Perez Hilton posted a t-shirt for sale at Urban Outfitters displaying the words "Eat Less" like anyone would be I was pretty shocked and offended that one they would be so insensitive to the eat disorder community and two they would promote that type of "mentality." And just recently Sofia Bush from One Tree Hill posted this open letter to the company on her blog

I have been a supporter of your store for many years, but now I'm through.

I am fortunate enough to star on a wonderful TV show called One Tree Hill. I play a fashion designer named Brooke Davis, who started a campaign on the show called "Zero Is Not A Size" and the outpouring of love and gratitude that came my way from girls and women ALL OVER THE WORLD who have body image issues brought me to tears.

To promote starvation? To promote anorexia, which leads to heart disease, bone density loss, and a slew of other health problems, not least of all psychological issues that NEVER go away? Shame on you. I will no longer be shopping at your stores. And I will encourage the tens of thousands of female supporters I have to do the same. I have fought to boycott BP. I never imagined I would also be boycotting affordable fashion.

You should issue a public apology, and make a hefty donation to a women's organization that supports those stricken with eating disorders. I am sickened that anyone, on any board, in your gigantic company would have voted 'yes' on such a thing, let alone enough of you to manufacture an item with such a hurtful message. It's like handing a suicidal person a loaded gun. You should know better.

I sincerely hope that next time you decide that making fun of serious issues is comedic, or 'snarky in a cool way,' that you rethink your decision.

I've been searching high and low for a perfect satchel, and we've all seen the Proenza Schouler satchel which seemed to spark this trend. This trend soon caught fire lead to Mulberry creating its own, very popular Alexa bag (named after MTV personality Alexa Chung). Yet being the college student I am there is no way I could ever afford to shell out at least $1000 for a bag. So I continued to search for other satchels by more attainable bands and their versions of the bag. Finally after a few failed attempts at a cute and practical satchel it seems like Forever 21 has gotten it right by essentially drawing complete inspiration from the Alexa bag. So for only thirty dollars my dream had come true. The bag is a perfect size and pretty sturdy for being produced for the "lower income masses." My only suggestion would be produce it in at least one other color but hey bag beggars can't be bag choosers Im very pleased with my purchase. To get one yourself for now you have to go in store it hasn't appeared online yet. Good Luck!

Describe what you're wearing. Please be as specific as possible.

I found most of the clothes in this photo in resale and trade shops. Both the red striped top and the bright blue high wasted skirt were from crossroads. They aren't attached I paired them together for a nautical look. The next item I decided to pair with this outfit where the cork wedges. I liked that they slimmed my ankles with the cloth ribbons and I wanted to play up and mix and match the idea of stripes (with the shirt). Lastly I chose a Birkin inspired purse made of canvas with a clean blue stripe detail to finish the look.

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my sense of style to be extremely eclectic. I don't stick to a "certain type" of style I like to play around and often my style for a day will match my mood. My favorite looks to play around with would probably be that old Hollywood style Im a huge fan of Dita Von Teese and I think she pulls of that look effortlessly. However being the fashion chameleon that I believe I am I also like the more edgy punk style and I even like to get dolled up and girly from time to time

Who are your favorite designers and why?

I think if I went over all of my favorite designers you'd never stop reading this there are so many talented designers out there today but I'll try and narrow it down to my top favorites. I love Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel that brand will always be classic a Chanel Suit NEVER goes out of style it's timeless. Another designer Im a huge fan of is the late >

Who inspires your wardrobe and why? (family member, friend, celebrity, etc.)

I take inspiration from so many places and this world is such a beautiful place I think a gal can find it in the most obscure places. I love lookbook.nu I think that and the satorialist are great places to get an accurate take on street style. Another person who inspires me is Dita Von Teese as stated before she is the EPITOME of classic style and NEVER has a hair out of place. I think the most unusual place I get inspiration is from art Im an art history major and I draw a lot of inspiration from my class I remember at one point I was studying baroque and the gold, brocade and epaulettes were to die for.

What store can you always count on to find the best items?

Without a doubt Crossroad's Trading Co. always has what Im looking for they're a resale store so you can find trendy and classic pieces for a really inexpensive site. Another thing I love about the specific store is that they have really HIGH end designer piece I once bought a LV speedy for over 50% off of the original price and being a college student I have a tight budget.

What item of clothing or accessory are you regularly wearing right now?

The item Im probably wearing the most these days would be a cuffed boyfriend style blazer. I think its one of the best finishing touches you can put on an outfit. I can look really tailored and relaxed and at the same time and when I need to go to work after class all I have to do is throw it on whatever Im wearing and I look stylish and professional.

What trend from the past would like to make a comeback?

I would really like to see high waisted wide legged trousers come back into style I loved to wear them but they lost popularity after 07' personally I still wear them from time to time because they remind me of Katharine Hepburn.

The "Look of the Week" I've decided on for this week would have to be Megan Fox at the Jonah Hex premier. She wore a sizzling red Armani Prive cocktail dress with a plunging neckline highlighting a rose embellishment. As always what really seems to catch my attention are the knockout dresses that are allowed to shine with simple accessories. Fox did just that adding only a clutch and black Brian Atwood pumps in patent. Red Carpet Fashion Awards however, didn't believe the pumps were the best choice but I differ in that opinion I believe they make the dress pop more especially against her dark hair.

I just finished watching this on the Style Network and I must say this truly inspired me. Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is one of the most acclaimed celebrity designers. With a CFDA award already under his belt he is ready to get back into the high tension world of fashion week. What really stood out to me was his determination to promote black models in the industry. Its not unknown for shows to have one or two black models in a sea of white faces. He even released a video on Youtube calling out for more black female as well as male models to attend his casting sessions. Not only will this show diversity for fashion week but the diversity with in the black community. We all come is different colors and structures not just one shade. The fact that he knows what he wants he has the means and he's not afraid to get it. So many "celebrity" designers are not TRULY involved in their own lines they're simply lending their name to a brand but Combs is fully involved in EVERY element of the design process.

More often than not I find myself looking through models blogs or street shots of off duty models and wonder where they get their clothes and how I could possibly get my hands on them. Well just recently with the opening of the boutique Red Bag owned by top model Chanel Iman this dream became a possibility. The newly opened store is divided into two sections with the more contemporary pieces in the front of the store (some chosen and signed my Chanel herself) and the more vintage designer pieces in the back of the store. Some of the pieces in the store have even come straight out of Chanel closet. If you're in the area and have a little free time I suggest you stop by and check it out theres something for everyone.

I've never been the type girl to strut around in skimpy clothing or show a significant amount of skin, hell you can't even get me to the beach without having me desperately trying to grab and a fashionable cover up. However, very recently I made a pact with a friend to show up to the infamous Rocky Horror Picture Show in lingerie. Yup, you heard me lingerie. So I've decided to spend theses remaining two weeks researching burlesque, lingerie, pin up girls including Dita Von Teese and of course Bettie Paige and working my ass off trying to slim down in enough time to gain some confidence before the 28th. Wish me Luck!

On a related note:

The first thing I saw after I made the pack was Beyonce's new music video for her single "Why Don't You Love Me?"I thought it was quite ironic since I too am going for the vintage retro look. Its a great music video and the fashions to die for however I must say Im a little annoyed that they photoshopped her legs it just makes me feel worse about mine! So finally the public gets to take a look at this "new" and "adult" version of Miley Cryus. The under aged singing recently stated she wanted to break away from her already less than squeaky clean Disney image and expose her true self. Well maybe this wasn't the best way to go about it. This music video could be more cliche if she was wearing a school girl uniform seducing a teacher with her snaggle toothed smile. HELLO?! We've all seen this stage with Britney and Christiana think of something new. Lindsanity already did the caged bird deal and I know you think you're couture in all those feathers honey but you look like someone tared and feathered you. On top of that whats with the dramatic head movements? It loses its intensity after the millionth time you do it. You ought to get your head checked while you're at it you're probably gonna get whiplash from it.

This trend seems pretty predictable right? Pastels and spring is a no brainer but it seems every season designers find a way to make it new and exciting for all of us. This year the most noticeable collections were probably the notoriously black and white Chanel turning to lighter more feminine pastel colors much like the dress that Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the Oscars (shown below). Another popular designer bursting with light and feathery pastel colors would be Donatella Versace's Alice in Wonderland inspired collection. This collection (which Ive actually already previously covered) featured sky high stacked wooden heels and white rabbits. This seasonal trend is guaranteed to keep you comfortable, cool and feminine during the hot spring and summer months!

Obsession of the Week: Balenciaga Harness Boots

No matter what season or year it seems fashionistas and girls alike can not get enough of the Balenciaga Fall 2006 Harness Boot. Made popular by the Olsen Twins these boots are pretty hard to find. However, lucky for style mavens everywhere companies like Sam Edelman and LUCYD ACYD have pretty well constructed replicas available online. I recently ordered the LUCYD ACYD version myself for around $80 (not including shipping) and fell in love with them. This particular version has probably about a 6" heel with a platform and are made from faux pony hair. The Sam Edelman version are a little lower with a less extreme platform and about a 5 1/4 inch heel. Personally I prefer the hardware and price of the LUCYD ACYD version but either is a great addition and must have to any fashionistas collection.

So the Look of the Week may seem kind of out of place this time around but lets face it its been awhile since I've done one of these and Amanda Seyfried was just looking too good too pass up. Appearing at the "Chloe" premier after party in New York. She opted to wear a stunning turquoise Roland Mouret dress from the exclusive "Rainbow Collection" that complimented her pale porcelain skin and draped over her body perfectly. She paired it with black pumps and accessories for a simple look. Other pieces from the collection are pictured below.

Military inspired pieces have always bounced in and out of being "on trend" and this year it seems that the ball has bounced back into our court. From army green jackets to heeled lace up boots these militant touches have appeared in quite a large amount of runway shows in Fall and Spring collections of 2010. This is most noted in Balmain's Spring 2010 ready to wear collection. Which displayed epaulettes, destroyed jeans and liquid tight dresses in that classic army green. This collection could leave any girl feeling strong enough to wage war on any hurdles through out her day.

For those of us who can not afford the luxurious goods of a real Balmain military jacket there's always tangible stores who draw their inspirations straight from the runway. A good place to start would be Forever 21 which usually has some basic pieces and a couple pieces inspired straight form the runway. Taking a glance at their sight I notice a casual green jacket what I like about it is its not really a classic cut its something new and different much like the second jacket which has taken a tougher stance on the traditional trench coat by adding studs to the lapels.

When it comes to bottoms cargo pants are a great idea. Since summer is coming up they aren't as restricting as skinny jeans a provide a loose, cool and comfortable alternative. And not to mention sometimes its convenient to have that many pockets. Naturally this Friday I'll be looking for more military inspired pieces myself after a long shopping dry spell and with winter quarter over and all my classes done and passed a retail therapy session is much needed. One thing to think about is that the military look can often be translated into the safari look which Im also loving right now so don't be afraid to use the same pieces base for both looks!

Pure Genius

So tonight E! premiered the Lady Gaga "Telephone" music video and can I say it was just PURE GENIUS. I'm really just speechless I love it when artists can take a songs music video and just turn it into almost a short independent film. I noticed so many movie references "Thema and Louise" and of course my favorite the Pussy Wagon from "Kill Bill". Oh how I would love to drive that car and don't even get me started on the fashion; leather studs, bright colors spandex, fishnets and the most avant gaurd hats. Wow this is probably Lady Gaga's best music video to date.

I've always had a pair of saddle shoes in my closet due to the whole "Lolita"reference and iconography it radiates. However, I've been noticing as the "men's wear" trend has been taking off saddle shoes are popping up just about everywhere. What draws me to them is their diversity you can pair them with a classic dress and all of a sudden you're vintage, they give an extra pop of color (white) with a suit, giving it a tuxedo look. You can also dress them down with shorts and a t-shirt. Basically they are a unique and comfortable touch to any outfit.

Recently Vans came out with their own sleeker more streamlined version I feel like these would be more appropriate to wear with a dress if you wanted because they arnt as chunky as the classic ones. You can buy these for 55$ at any Vans Store.

Steve Madden also has their own versions but these are a bit more masculaine and can be purchased online here. Their other version below is a lot more feminine and streamlined.

So I've finally I guess regained my composure (somewhat) enough to finally fully address the tragedy of Alexander McQueen. I've read all the blogs and all the news and they all are saying pretty much the same thing ...We are either at a loss of words or have constructed beautifully woven words that offered some small sort of comfort that yes he may be gone but at least we are all here to remember his amazing talent together and that WE can keep him alive in our thoughts.

On my end I dunno what to say Im still in shock heres what we've been told; his mother passed away just last week reports say for awhile he just spent time in bed not responding to anyone. He seemed quite distressed on his twitter after losing her. He also had dealt with the lost of Isabella Blow his personal and close friend only three years ago after she too took her own life after fighting ovarian cancer. Apparently I found out today that the decided to end it the day before his mothers funeral service and now they are scheduled to be buried together. I do NOT under any circumstance want to think about him hanging himself as the British newspaper the Sky News reported. (I also refuse to post the photos of his body being taken to the ambulance)

My first question is WHY? Why would he do this I know losing a parent is hard especially when you are so close with them but I do not believe under any circumstances his mother would have wanted this for him. He was a one of a kind designer. He was creative, daring, provocative his shows took you too another place just from watching them through the screen of my MAC. It was magic. Alexander McQueen was at the top of his game Gucci had just invested millions in him why throw it all away. What kills me the most is that he gave us so much, he gave so much to the fashion industry and now that is all we will ever get there will never be more we will never get to see what was next to come this is it. I can't accept that just yet.....

His family however did release a few statements on his official site;

"On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family."

My final question is where do we go from here? We know Gucci had invested millions in him, will the house close? Like the Satortialist suggested this isn't one of the old houses like YSL. Who could replace him? Will it be a design team or will his legacy end with him? For the shake of fashion I believe it can't end here.

The British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead at his London home at the age of 40.

His body was discovered at his property in Green Street, in the West End, shortly after 10am today. Paramedics were called but he was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem has been scheduled but police said his death was not being treated as suspicious. They would not comment on reports he had killed himself.

A spokeswoman for McQueen said: "Mr McQueen was found dead this morning at his home. We're devastated and I hope you understand that out of respect to his family and his colleagues we're not going to be making any further statement."

The death comes days before the start of London fashion week and a month before the designer was to unveil his new collection at Paris fashion week.

His family asked for privacy to come to terms with the death of McQueen, whose first name was Lee.

His company, Alexander McQueen, issued a statement saying: "On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family."

"Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this."

Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue, said McQueen had influenced a whole generation of designers. "His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs," she said.

"At one level he was a master of the fantastic, creating astounding fashion shows that mixed design, technology and performance and on another he was a modern-day genius whose gothic aesthetic was adopted by women the world over. His death is the hugest loss to anyone who knew him and for very many who didn't."

Born in London in 1969 as the youngest of six children, McQueen left school at the age of 16 and was offered an apprenticeship at the traditional Savile Row tailors Anderson and Shephard, then at neighbouring Gieves and Hawkes.

At 20 he was employed by the designer Koji Tatsuno. A year later McQueen travelled to Milan where he worked as a design assistant to Romeo Gigli. He returned to London in 1994 where he completed a master's degree in fashion design at Central St Martins College. His degree collection was famously bought in its entirety by Isabella Blow, a leading figure in the fashion world who died in 2007.

In less than 10 years McQueen became one of the most respectedfashion designers in the world. In October 1996 he was appointed chief designer at the French label Givenchy where he worked until March 2001.

In December 2000, 51% of Alexander McQueen was acquired by luxury brand Gucci, where he became creative director. Expansion followed and included the opening of flagship stores in New York, London and Milan.

McQueen was a four-time winner of the British designer of the year award as well as the international designer of the year award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. He was awarded the CBE in 2003.

Down the Rabbit Hole....

The release of Tim Burton's newest film a remake of the Lewis Carol novel Alice and Wonderland is approaching and as the day draws closer (March 5, 2010) it seems like Alice the little British girl who fell down the rabbit hole is taking us all down with her. From make up to jewelry to even entire runway collections it seems like this new revival is inspiring everyone.

The first brand to come out with some Alice in Wonderland inspired fashion was OPI Nail Polish which developed shimmery and shiny colors to represent specific characters in the novel. These colors included a fiery red much like the Red Queens temper. Sparking blue to represent Alice. A playful purple color inspired by the curious Cheshire Cat and another seductive version of reto represent the White Queen.

Paul and Joe and Urban decay also took a trip down the rabbit hole with more Alice in Wonderland themed cosmetic sets. Paul and Joe's included a double set of lipstick with images of the 1951 more well known animated Disney version of Alice that came in an adorable little case.Urban Decay took the make up theme a bit further with their "Book of Shadows" set including a cute little pop up scene. On the higher end of the spectrum British designer Stella McCartney also decided to join in and created a line of jewelry including spades, diamonds, clubs, hearts and even cute little mischievous white rabbits.

And last but not least Versace's entire Spring/Summer 2010 collection was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I loved the bright colors the patterns that included rabbits, spades, diamonds and hearts and even playing cards.

She wore a golden Zac Posen gown adorned with golden flowers and although she seemed more covered that usual when she turned around she revealed a dramatic yet classically sexy open back. I loved that her look seemed to be inspired by India and she even had a bindi a top her forehead.

So Im back! I haven't been on here much but thats because I've had midterms thats a free pass right? Anyways its been raining again and I've finally got to put my new rain boots to use when I did a little shopping on the way home In Melrose. Speaking of footwear in regards to the rain while walking to the parking lot I saw a girl in MOCCASINS?! and so I paused and looked up only to realize she was wearing the most eye-catching and unique ensemble I've seen on campus in awhile. It had this essence about it that yes it was cold and raining but she would be inside somewhere perhaps a cafe or, a book store or, maybe even a stylishly decorated apartment watching people fight through the rain and she read some sort of profound book. Im very interested in recreating it myself first stop the grey fitted sweatshirt.

What I Wore Wednesdays: What To Wear on an Interview

So today I went on an interview for an internship and the day before I was pondering what to wear. Originally I was going to wear a BEBE chocolate brown pants suit I found at Crossroads for 18$ (quite a deal by the way) However I felt that it would be too stale so many people go for the pants suit look because they assume you look automatically professional but I wanted to stand out. First I though about my palette and decided black and white would be the easiest and most classic way to go. I also didn't want to be restricted by pants to I chose a longer pencil skirt I top the look off with a black sweater with a white bird across the right shoulder. I didn't want to wear too many accessories either so the ULTIMATE classic I chose was of course double stranded pearls. I wanted another little dash of white so I chose my black and white wing tip pumps. Overall I really liked the look and was complimented on the elevator so I think I achieved my goal. Also to end my day I finally found some rainboots from this store called Top Shoes in Westwood and honestly I highly recommend it they had lots and lots of Jeffery Campbell for AMAZING prices.

So its raining like CRAZY here in California. I've never seen a storm so bad, this also reminded me I have no raincoat or rain boots and today I ended up with VERY wet socks. I HATE WET SOCKS. So if I some how were able to go on a rain gear themed shopping spree this is what I probably would have pulled together but due to my college student budget the fantasy of Ployvore will have to suffice! Also have you heard about this tornado scare? A tornado in California? Well I never!

(Today is Wednesday and although it is raining I'll share what I wore over the weekend that I particularly liked! You'll find out what today is what I wore day further below in this entry. Also I got a Alexander Wang inspired bag from Zara on SALE! They're still currently having their sale now so head down to your nearest store it's quickly making its way to the top of my favorite stores list.)

So I've been a pretty absent blogger these days but its a new year and time to start reformatting things and hopefully making this blog more balanced organized and streamlined. I've decided to create a schedule for this blog specific stories specific days.

Here's what I've mustered up so far;

Mondays' - So for mondays I know I always have some sort of obsession some sort of theme going on in my head so Im thinking I'd create a polyvore look based on that or bring you some information on the subject to ponder throughout the week.

Wednesdays' - Wednesdays' will be my what I wore day. This is because this is really the only day I get to dress as I please no sweats no track clothing just me and my personal sense of style.

Fridays' - Will be in my usual style and feature my Look of the Week which I had been doing regularly before I had fallen off the "Blog-Horse"

anyways so I hope this blog will be a lot better and easier to read after all this re-formating and let the reconstruction begin!

Rodarte Roulette

So after being consumed and overwhelmed with finals week I finally have three whole weeks off! Apparently while I was off in study land Rihanna released a music video for her new single Russian Roulette, and one thing I love about her and Lady Gaga for that matter is they always incorporate high-fashion into their music videos. I think that this gives a rare opportunity to designers to have a new forum to display their designs. So one designer I could clearly spot in this music video is Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte's bandage heels (although the thigh high boots where more widely advertised). Anyways these shoes are actually currently available at Barney's but only in grey according to ShoeBlog.com.

Black Friday Approaches

Probably my FAVORITE thing about holiday besides the presents are the SALES. We all know that Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the entire year because everyone gets their holiday shopping done that day. Usually I keep an itinerary list and go at the sales military style "get in, hit hard, get what you need and get out." So to help everyone navigate through the journey that is Black Friday I am going to share a basic outline of my itinerary list with you and great gift ideas for certain friends and family members as well as great items from each store. By the way this particular article is dedicated to Sarinea get better girl!

First lets go over the Location;

Many people pick shopping malls indoor and outdoor in my opinion I try to stay away from malls (they tend to be crowded and unorganized) and focus on shopping districts for example Melrose or my personal favorite Santa Monica.

However if you are choosing to go to a mall I suggest the Santa Anita Westfield Mall which is pretty spacious and packed with every store you'd ever need my second choice would probably be the Glendale Galleria although I believe their parking system is seriously flawed especially at the Americana

Now that we have covered location these are the stores Im planning to hit on my journey;

1. Crossroads Trading Co. : This is by far probably my favorite store. It always has the latest trends and styles as well as the classic at almost too good to be true prices. Whats even more remarkable about this chain of resale stores is their always growing collection of designer items last time I was there they had a pair of Loubutions in my size for only $200 quite the tempting deal. However a warning if you see something you want buy it right then their percious designer goods get snapped up fast by the keen eyes of the fashoinistas who frequent there. This is a great place to get gifts for you Mom, Dad, Friends or Boyfriend/Girlfriend.

2. Wasteland: Wasteland is a lot like Crossroads however its significanlty more expensive however in turn they have a significantly larger amount of designer goods. Its a good place to pick up that one key splurge item whether it be a dress, bag, jacket or pair of shoes to swank up your outfits. I got a great Louis Vuttion Cherises Speedy there once. This is a great place to pick up an item for a Friend or Boyfriend/Girlfriend with a little bit more expensive designer taste in gifts.

3. Urban Outfitters; One of the best sales they have at Urban Outfitters is their "sale sale" which is when they take thier items that are already reduced in price and allow you to take an additional 50% off. Hopefully they'll be having this sale tomorrow in their chain of stores. This is a good place to get gifts for a Friend a Boyfriend/Girlfriend or even a Mother because they have a really good apartment accessories collection. Looking at their sale items they have a recently reduced prices on a lot of thier winter booties which are great for Califorina and its ever changing weather this wedged bootie is a particular favorite of mine.

4. Old Navy: Old Navy is most definatly have a great sale for the Thanksgiving rush and is a great place to pick up basics for your wardrobe and well and some really cute holiday themed items like scarves, winter hats and cute mittens perfect gifts for and Friend or Mother. Currently their sale goes from today till the end of this weekend and includes 50% off all outerwear, 15$ sweaters and 8$ long sleeved t-shirts. I recomend these cute little mittens for $10.

5. Forever 21: Forever 21 is another great place to buy basics, but also has their "versions" of the lastest trends for relatively inexpensive prices. This is a great place to pick up gifts as well for a Friend or Girlfriend. They dont usually have big blowout sales for Black Friday in my experience but most of their stuff is inexpensive enough to really hurt your wallet too bad. What Im really loving from Forever 21 is their big oversized sweaters that remind me of Irina Project Runway winners Final Collection.

6. Victoria's Secret: Victoria's Secret always has some sort of amazing sale during Black Friday. I usually shop their for their increasingly cute Collegiate Collection which has just relased an all white hoodie/sweats version of each of the schools mascot. This is a great place to get a gift for a Friend or Girlfriend I don't really recomend getting a gift for your Mother there that would seem sufficiently awkward. Their Black Friday deal consits of a free runway bag with a 60$ purchase, they also have a deal involving $15 + off coupons.

7. Target: Target is a superstore you can find a gift for ANYONE there and if you're lucky you can still snag some of the Anna Sui collection on the sale racks. Targets deal includes a 10$ gift card with every 100$ purchase and severely reduced prices of most of their items as well as a cute Marcle Wanders for target shopping bag.

8. Macys: Macys is one of the staples in the journey of Black Friday they always have great deals and they're always crowded so I suggest you get there early maybe even first. Thier current deals are $10 dollars off a purchase of $25 a very good deal in my opinion. What I love about them is their collections of bag especially Betsey Johnson. This is however a great place to get gifts for Mom , Dad, Friends and a Boyfriend or Girlfriend and the coupon only makes it a sweeter deal. Remember to look in the paper or go on line and print out the coupon.

9. Nordstrom's: Like I said about the perviously stated Wasteland Nordstroms is without a double expensive and should be looked at (unless you're rich) as a place to pick up that one spluge item to set off your wardrobe. They have great perfume, cosmetics, bags and shoes that will all compliment anyones look. This would be a great place to purchase something for your Mother, Father or maybe a Special Boyfriend or Girlfriend based on the expense of most of the items. However their website promises deals of up to 50% off. Something desinger, cute and extremely useful and even someone inexpensive that I think would make a good gift would be their Coach wristlet my sister got me one last year and I've been using it ever since.

10. Sephora: Sephora usually has one of the best cosmetic deals during the holidays, they often have reduced prices and my favorite the cosmetic gift sets the companies put together for the holidays which are deals within themselves. My personal favorite is the Sephora brand "Blockbuster" which comes with an unimaginable amount of makeup and this year including and 18 page how to booklet. This is a great gift for any Female in your life and its also a great starter kit for those just learning the basics of makeup.

Inclosing remember these little survial tips;

1. Try not to carry a large purse (maybe just a wristlet) because hopefully you will be carring lots and lots of shopping bags

2. Remember to get a good amount of sleep the night before you will be waking up early to go out on your journey

4. Wear comfortable clothes that are not to fussy incase you decided to try some clothes on for yourself

5. Having caffeine and aspirin

6. Its good to look online and then create a list of things you like

7.Map out which stores you're going to what deals they are having and what time they open

8.Bring a friend which is great for double teaming that bitch whos trying to grab those Gucci boots you saw first.

9. Stay within your budget

If you have recently picked up the newest issue of Vogue magazine like I have you may have noticed the plethora of all star actresses on the cover. At first I didnt understand why they had a group of actresses on their cover rather than the usual one (omitting their break through model issues). So opening the pages I realized all these actresses are in the upcoming movie based on the Musical Nine which Im told represents the Nine women in the movie. Then I saw the trailer (below) which after I instantly knew I would love this movie. What really stood out to me as always was the wardbrobe of the cast. Beautiful gowns, primal lingere pieces and garders gallore danced across the movie screen in a classic burlesque and reminded me hmm maybe I should pick up some lingere myself just to "test the waters." Nine comes out Novemeber 25th, 2009.

Contiuning on in the theme of lingere and all around sexieness I know that Sonia Rykiel is releasing her own lingere line with H&M on december 5th. If I do say so myself

the lingere is looking really delicious. There are already a couple ads out already depicting models in

pale pastelle teddies, corsets and bras that look soft yet playful. The President Nathalie Rykiel of the Rykiel Fashion

This was my original outfit its an Anna Sui dress for the Go International Target collection. Im not sure why it wasn't as advertised as the other dresses, it was a lot cheaper too. I think it was a lot cuter than some of the other more popular ones
This was the first "cardie" coat I tried on it was cute but I didn't like the way it hung on me especially the shorter sleeves.
I finally decided on this coat I like how it hung i could roll up the sleeves for a shouchy look. Also the color stood out to me.

You know what that means the count down to my favorite holiday HALLOWEEN!! So I decided that everday Im going to have at least one post involving this EPIC holiday. So todays post is this movie thats actually out right now. Paranormal Activity was an indie film that was eventually picked up by Spielburg and apparently its very terrifying its shot mockumentary style. Go see it and get in the Halloween spirt!

Look of the Week: Ellen Barkin

The Look of the Week for this week is Ellen Barkin in L'Wren Scott Spring 2009. She wore this to The Steady Rain premiere. Nichole Kidman perviously wore this dress but strangely enough I dont like to many looks on her at all something about her puts me off. Ellen Barkin however looks amazing in this I think her hair could be a little more done up but its simple enough to work. You all know how I love simplicity. Barkin paired the dress with black nails and a matching black clutch and T-stap Loboution heels. What I love most is the black is slimming and compliments her body perfectly. Very pulled together.

An A-Line Dress

First lets address how this dress got its name. according to Nina Garica in her book The One Hundred which is what I used as my guide for packing up my college wardrobe " True A-Line is narrower on the top and flares out gently towards the bottom, resembling the letter A." This type of dress was also introduced by Christian Dior in the mid 1950's and gained its popularity from women such as Twiggy and Jackie O.

Why is this and essential you ask? Simply because it is so versatile it can be worn any day of the week it can be dressed up dressed down. It can be worn in the coldest winter with boots or the warmest summer with sandals or a cute pair of flats. Best of all it flatters mostly every body type and flows over "imperfections" and "flaws"

So now that Im off at REAL college, not community college and I'm in my dorm I feel like I have much more freedom to blog. Also I have a huge dorm wall to post the lasted trends and the classics on! Kind of like a story board for my blog? anyways! So I was thinking while I was packing up all my belongings to move what essentials did I need to bring and I remember I had a copy of Nina Garcia's book The 100 which is a guide of 100 essential items to balance out a gal's wardrobe so I based my dorm packing around this book and I think my dorm wardrobe is pretty balanced. This also lead me to think "hey!"Why dont I do a blog post about this maybe a couple essential Items a day and where you could purchase them. So for the next week or so I'll do posts about the essentials of fashion for a dorm! I also highly recommend her book series.

Something is Missing From Project Runway

So I've been trying to watch Project Runway avidly this season and I noticed there are two HUGE holes in the production. Nina Garcia and Michael Kors are missing! I know she had a book coming out and he obviously has the Spring 2010 Michael Kors collection but they have been absent from the judging for weeks. So after much sluthing (on google mind you) I found a statement from an interview Nina Garcia did with the Los Angeles Times

“The reality is that both Michael and myself have other jobs besides ‘Project Runway’ and he probably had to work on his following collection and I had to go to the collection. When it was in L.A. and in that time period that we filmed, it was very difficult to be there the entire time. He has another job, he’s a designer and work on his collection, and I had to fly to Paris to see the fashion shows for the fall. It was impossible to be there for an entire month.”

In the newest issue of Complex Magazine model Amber Rose (Kanye's girlfriend) channelled 80's icon Grace Jones. As you can see many of the photos seem to be Jone's referenced. None the less they are both still fierce although I personally still consider Lady Gaga as the new white Grace Jones. On the subject of race Jezebel.com had an interesting take on the underlying racism in the photo set.
